Highest Education Completed: High school

Year Started Business: 2001

Type Of Business: "I own and co-own several MLM, online marketing, and direct-marketing companies. Covenant Choice (http://www.cplan.net/), which recently launched out of pre-launch, is one of the hottest MLM opportunities I am involved in today. I have made quite a bit of money over the past three years with Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc. (PPD) NYSE. Today, I own MLM CEO, which is a new company I founded this year to help duplicate my MLM CEO Success System throughout the MLM Industry. Nutri-Mart Express is a wholesale vitamin and wellness products supplier that I launched this year. USA ID Theft.com is a Website I launched in 2003 to market Identity Theft Protection supplied by Kroll Worldwide and PPD. USA FREE Quote is a company I formed to connect consumers with insurance and financial professionals throughout the nation. Finally, Crossroadswear, LLC, is a company I founded to exclusively market Crossroadswear clothing (a clothing line I developed over the past four years). I also am an associate of SoulMate, which is a company headed up by Steve Smith (formerly of Excel). I currently hold the position of executive vice-president and a managing nember of the Covenant Group, LLC, and subsidies, which is a direct-marketing company, focused on providing equal access to affordable healthcare."

Hours Worked Per Week Now: "It is not work anymore, but I spend an average of 50 hours per week helping people in my business, when you figure in travel and phone time."

Favorite Business Magazines: Network Marketing Business Journal, FastCompany, and Home Business Connection (HBC)

Favorite Business Books/Authors: Networking with Millionaires - Dr. Thomas J. Stanley, PhD; Rich Dad, Poor Dad - Robert Kiyosaki; Doing Business by the Good Book - David L. Steward - "These books combined have inspired my focus and expanded my abilities to build a successful business with spiritual values."

Relaxes By: Traveling and playing blackjack

Keeps In Shape By: Doing routine workouts a minimum of four days per week with weightlifting and treadmill

Favorite Part Of The Job: "It is not a job anymore; today it is all about helping others succeed at avoiding the common pitfalls of life and to own their own business. Why? It means more to me to help someone who has never earned over $1,000 per week to exceed their goals and begin to live their dreams."

Least Favorite Part Of The Job: "The people who are afraid of change and miss out on opportunities to change their lives, because God has promised us all an abundant life, but society has created people who feel as though a better life is not for them and they can never fulfill their dreams. You can do anything in life if you will just work harder and smarter than the next person and never, ever quit dreaming."

Companies Admired:

Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc. - "Harland Stonecipher has built a massive company from the ground up and today is fulfilling his vision."

Excel - "Any network-marketing company that made it from startup to producing over $1 billion per year in less time than any other company (including MicroSoft) has to be admired by all network marketers; Steve Smith is a man of great vision."

FedEx - "Fred Smith built a company that he was told would never survive into one of the biggest success stories in America and a worldwide leader. Because of FedEx home-based business is possible."

Favorite Quotes:

Every morning in Africa a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning a lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death. It doesn't matter whether you are a lion or a gazelle—when the sun comes up, you had better be running. - Anonymous

An optimist is someone who goes after Moby Dick in a rowboat and takes the tartar sauce with him. - Zig Ziglar

Never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never--in nothing, great or small, large or petty—never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense. - Winston Churchill

The Person Who Most Influenced His Life: "My mother. I grew up very poor...an only child of a single mother. Even though we were very poor and lived in government-sponsored apartments, she worked three jobs while going to college part-time, just to provide a better life for me. And when she was only 29 years old, she was able to pay cash for a new home for us to live in. This showed me that no matter how much money you have today, where you live today, or how educated you are today, if you were willing to work hard and never quit dreaming, you can achieve anything you want in life."

Heroes: His grandfather - "He believed in me when everyone else in my family and all of my friends told me I was crazy for getting involved with 'some type of pyramid scheme' and I needed to go get a 'real job'; he told me 'If I had been willing to take the kind of risks you are taking today, my whole family would have been better off in life.'"

GETTING STARTED TIPS:

I'm starting a home business next month. I have a maximum of $3,000 in start-up capital. Where should I invest it?Leads, training and tools.

I've just started a home business. My spouse has given me six months to make it work. Any advice?

You must have a "MAP for Success"; contact me and I will send you a personal copy of my success plan that is guaranteed to help you build a successful home based business, if you will just commit to following it.

They say it takes money to make money. Should I try to get a small business loan for my startup capital or just try to get by with my own limited finances?

I first started off by starting a restaurant back in the mid 90's and took out a loan of close to $100K just to get it started. I made a little bit over $80K Total during the three years I owned it and sold it to pay off the note and pocket a profit of around $20,000. So, I averaged $33,000 per year in profit for all those long hours. When I first got involved in network marketing, I invested around $300 and made back my investment within the first five days. The big key is having a plan for success, a MAP to where you want to be every month and follow it. One of the biggest problems in network marketing is that people often don't treat their home-based business serious because they have only invested a few hundred dollars to get started. If you are going to borrow money, please for your sake, develop a business plan and follow it month in and month out.

TECHNOLOGY & TOOLS:

How quickly do you adopt new technology for your business?

I am on the Internet and reading industry publications on a daily basis. In this industry, it is all about timing and when the next best way of marketing comes around, you want to be on the front end. Don't be afraid to try something new.

Do you use a fax machine with a dedicated line?

I use an e-fax system for business and it has a toll-free number. I always include my fax number on any marketing materials I produce. I also read every fax, including fax blasts, to keep up with what works.

Do you utilize Fax-on-Demand?

Fax-on-demand is a great tool that allows people to gather information about your service, products, or opportunity without you having to talk directly with them. When someone is in a hurry and doesn't have time to read your Website, fax-on-demand can increase your business. Again, I use a toll-free number system.

How do you use e-mail in your business?

I communicate with my entire organization via e-mail and send out a daily correspondence with motivation and reminders to my entire team.

How do you utilize the Internet?

If you do not have a Website in today's Internet era, you are going to be left behind. I am constantly looking at what is happening in the industry. Five years ago, there were not very many Internet tools for MLM. Today you can spend months looking at all the new tools.

How many of your own Website(s) do you have?

Seven. I use them for advertising all my different products and services.

Do you use auto-responders?

Not at this time but plan to in the near future.

If you use a toll-free number, what is its primary use?

I have a toll-free, 24-hour message system for prospectors. Every piece of advertising I do leads people to my message line, and the line contains multiple extensions to guide them to the product, service, or opportunity they are inquiring about. The system also has fax-on-demand.

If you use voice mail, what is your primary use for it?

See my response above.

Describe your computer system and how you use computers in your business.

Basic home PC and laptop with BACK-UPS. Save everything with a backup copy. There is nothing worse then losing marketing materials you have worked hard to create. I am not a computer genius and did not even have an e-mail address or own a computer until I started my network marketing business. In fact, it was over eight months after starting to build my business that I purchased a computer (I don't recommend waiting that long).

What software do you consider in the "must-have" category?

Adobe PhotoShop. If you will read the book, you can create AWESOME marketing materials that will set you apart from other people in your business (always have the materials approved by your company); be creative.

What other technology do you use in your business?

I could not live without a cellular phone. My cellular phone is what makes my business nationwide. I can be anywhere in the United States and conduct business as though I am in my home office. After having 50- to 100-page phone bills costing over $1,000 to 4,000 per month, I highly recommend Nextel Business Plan for unlimited usage. I believe their latest plan is $249 per month with unlimited minutes; they are talking about no longer offering this plan, but they grandfather existing customers into their current plan.

Of all the technology you use, rank the top three.

1.Cellular Phone - makes my business virtual and worldwide.
2.Computer - makes my business virtual and worldwide.
3.Toll-free voice system - makes my business virtual and worldwide!

MARKETING/ADVERTISING:

How do you market on the Internet?

Free and paid advertising, search engines, and affiliate programs.

Approximately what percentage of your sales originate from Internet marketing?

25%.

How do you market in the print media?

Industry publications and newspaper classified ads.

Approximately what percentage of your sales originate from marketing in the print media?

75%.

Do you recommend using a toll-free number in advertising?

YES. From my personal experience, your ads will receive nearly 10 times the response.

Where do you market? (Locally, nationally, internationally, all three?)

Locally, regionally, and nationally.

THE HOME OFFICE:

How should someone set up his/her home office to maximize its effectiveness?

Have all of your business tools (computer, phone, fax, books, etc.) in your office. Don't have a TV or radio in the room with you.

What, if any, ground rules have you established for yourself and family in order to operate a successful home business?

If the business ever starts feeling like a job, it is time to get into a new business.

What are some of the advantages to working at home?

Freedom. Sometimes it is hard to stay focused. However, anymore I spend much of my time in hotels and meeting rooms around the country.

MANAGEMENT STYLE:

What part(s) of your work do you farm out?

I share the majority of my leads with my entire organization.

What part(s) do you feel should never be farmed out?

Addressing a negative person in your organization should always be taken care of by you as a leader.

Do you encourage or discourage partnerships?

I think partnerships are a good idea sometimes. However, everyone should always cover themselves legally in case the partnership was to ever separate. It is hard to divide assets when there is no legal binding contract of ownership.

Do you encourage or discourage hiring family members?

Encourage recruiting family members. However, don't be disappointed when they are not interested. I discourage hiring family members unless it is solely because they are qualified for the job.

When legal issues arise, what's your usual response?

I call my Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc. law firms in whatever state the legal issue arises.

MONEY:

What are the advantages of earning a lot of money. What are some disadvantages?

Being able to help others and give more to my church. There are not any.

Best general tax advice?

Set up an LLC or INC and hire a good CPA. They will save you a lot more than their fee.

Best general investment advice?

If it sounds too good to be sure, that is a good enough reason to not take risks. The wealthiest people in the world didn't get there by investing in guaranteed deals. (Gates, Buffet, Walton etc.) All took extremely large risks with ALL of their money.

You're in business already, and you've just received a windfall of $20,000. What would you do with it?

Advertise and expand.

MARKETING & ADVERTISING

What do you lead with - your company's products or the business opportunity?

Both. It depends on which business I am promoting. If you recruit enough opportunity seekers into your organization and help them develop a solid plan for success, the product will be sold by the masses.

Rank the following traits in order of their importance in building a successful network-marketing business: enthusiasm, persistence, knowledge, and communication skills.

1. Enthusiasm - People never buy anything because they personally believe in it, they buy because the salesperson transfers belief with enthusiasm.
2. Persistence - It doesn't matter how bad of a recruiter you are, if you never quit, eventually, you will earn a lot of money.
3. Knowledge - It is important as time goes by to become knowledgeable about your company.
4. Communication skills - Some of the greatest salespeople and recruiters in the world have terrible communication skills and this just makes some people think "well if they can do this, anyone can."

How long were you in business for yourself before you saw your first four-figure commission check?

Your first five-figure check?

Two weeks and 10 months, respectively.

What's more important - the initial contact with a prospect or the follow-up?

Follow-up, follow-up, follow-up…The average recruiters and distributors never follow up with prospects. I have made a lot of money from recruits who have told me they were told about a product or opportunity that I recruited them into before but the person who told them about the opportunity never followed up and explained everything.

You've just recruited a promising new distributor how do you help him/her get off to a good start?

Invite them to my personal training teleconference call, send them some starter leads, and provide my MLM CEO Success Plan.

How do you get your best leads?

Industry publication ads and cold calling.

I'm planning a big local meeting; what's the best way to fill the room?

Invite a special guest speaker from out of town. Even if the person is not as high up in the organization as you are, the fact that they are coming in from out of town gets people to show up. Give away a prize.

I need to generate a hundred leads within 60 days; what's my best strategy to achieve this?

Depends on your budget, but if you simply followed my MLM CEO Success plan basing it on the Fast Start version and just recruited two new people per week and teach your team to do the same, at the end of 60 days, you would have over 5,000 people on your team.

How many distributors must a person recruit each month to succeed in network marketing?

With the MLM CEO Success System that I created and teach, if you recruit just two per month and teach your team to do the same, you will have over 94,000 within your first six levels (which is where a lot of companies stop paying overrides) at the end of 12 months.

Best tips for surviving rejection?

Some will, some won't, so what…There are over 280 million people in America.

Do you recommend that new distributors prospect close friends and family?

Yes. Even though these are the worst people to prospect (don't expect any of them to say yes), after you start earning a substantial income at least you can say "remember (friend/family member), I tried to get you in before."

THE ROAD AHEAD:

In five years I'll be...

Enjoying a net worth of at least $5 million and teaching people how to become rich in network marketing.

In 10 years I'll be...

Enjoying a net worth of at least $15 million and teaching people how to become rich in network marketing.

POWERFUL IDEAS:

What was the motivating factor that drove you to start your own business?

Knowing that you will never succeed working for someone else.

What role, if any, did your family play when you were getting your business off the ground?

My grandfather was the only one who believed in me when everyone else in my family and all of my friends told me I was crazy for getting involved with "some type of pyramid scheme" and I needed to go get a "real job"; he told me "If I had been willing to take the kind of risks you are taking today, my whole family would have been better off in life."

What motivates you now to continue building your business?

The ability to share my experience with others while helping create millionaires and my long-term vision to help spiritual entrepreneurs fund their businesses.

What's the best thing about being self-employed?

F R E E D O M.

How often do you read books and/or listen to or watch tapes for improving your business skills or knowledge?

At a minimum of 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes at night every single day.

The most underrated activity in business is…

Recruiting.

The most overrated activity in business is…

Location.

What was the biggest obstacle you had to face when you were launching your own business? What's your biggest obstacle now?

Being broke. Now, there's not enough hours in the day to help everyone.

If you had to start your business all over again, what would you do differently?

Start at an earlier age.

What was your worst business decision?

Not getting into network marketing earlier. I missed out on a lot of opportunities because I was skeptical.

What was your best business decision?

Getting into network marketing. There is simply no better way to leverage your income abilities than network marketing.

What do you consider to be the main keys of your success?

What's your success philosophy?

Work harder than the next person today, so that their kids work for yours someday.
