List Building - How to List Build With Article Marketing

Article marketing is one of the premier ways of generating opt ins to your list.

So why don’t more marketers do it?

It is hard work. It is boring work. It is not easy to crank out a few articles a day, every day, on essentially the same topics everyday. And it takes time before you see results. When you first get started, you might get 10 opt ins one day, 20 the next, and only one or two a day for a week. It took me 3 months of consistent article writing to get to where I have 20-30 opt ins pretty consistently, everyday, just from the article writing. But the nice thing is, I can go a few days and not write, and there is not an appreciable drop in opt ins. But I think the consistency is key.

So how do I do it?

1) I set up a web page that has on it only a call to action to subscribe to my list, and an opt in box. That’s it. I don’t try to sell anything on that web page. Nothing. No links. Nothing. That is one of the most important things here. I simply forego the possibility of an immediate sale for the value of the subscriber on my list.

2) I write articles that directly pertain to topics that would pertain to quality visitors to my web page. This is important. If you write articles that are great articles, but when the reader gets to your web page to opt in, but the opt in page has nothing for him or to do with him, he won’t opt in. A waste of a visitor. If you have several topics, create a web page opt in for each topic, and put a different link on every article.

3) That’s it. Web page with opt in box only, then write articles. Lots of articles.
