LAMPUNG TRADITIONAL ARCHITECTURAL STYLES

L ampung pavilion at Mini Indonesia Park presents two traditional architectural styles, the Nuwou Balak and Nuwou Sesat as the main buildings. The two traditional houses function as exhibition room where some traditional cultural aspects are shown.

Nuwou Balak or Balai Keratun is originally home of the chief of the village. The house consists of several rooms, namely, Lawang Kuri (archway), Pusiban (guest report room), ljan Geladak (entrance stair), Anjung-Anjung (front verandah, guest room), Serambi Tengah (men's living room), Lapang Agung (ladies meeting room), Kebik Temen or Kebik Kerumpu (bedroom of the eldest child or penyimbang bumi), Kebik Rangek (bedroom of the second child or penyimbang ratu), and Kebik Tengah (bedroom of the third child or penyimbang batin).

At the pavilion, the rooms are used to display a number of cultural objects. In the room there are Pepadun (seat of the head of a ceremony), Kutamara or bridal room for penyimbang woman who want to dance, a show case of various sigar (crowns), placed in a glass vitrin together with a number of artifacts and weavings. Here, Lampung wedding costumes, bridal bed, and bed of the parents are also shown.

The other building is Nuwou Sesat or Sesat Balai Agung, a house built above pillars, was originally the place where the chiefs of the villages convene. Parts of the house are, ljan Geladak (roofed entrance stairs which roof is called Rurung Agung), Anjungan (small meeting room), Pusiban (formal meeting room), Ruang Tetabuhan (room to store the traditional musical instrument named Talo Kulintang or Talo Balak, Ruang Gajah Merem (a room to relax).
The most typical of Nuwou Sesat is the Rurung Agung, where colorful large umbrellas in white, yellow and red are decorating the entrance and used symbol of the wholeness of the Lampung Pepadun society.

Lampung society consists of two main groups, respectively has special traditional law. They are Peminggir traditional society and Pepadun traditional society. Peminggir society, such as, Krui, Ranau, Komering, and Kayu Agung society, live along the coast And, Pepadun society, who customarily conservative, such as, Abung (Abung Siwo Migo), Pubian (Pubian Telu Suku), Tulang Bawang (Migo Pak), Buai Lima (Way Kanan), and Sungkay Bunga Mayang, live in the inland.
